What is DIPG?
DIPG is a rare and aggressive brain tumour that primarily affects children.
Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) develops in the brainstem — an area responsible for vital functions including breathing, movement and heart rate. Its location and aggressive nature make it exceptionally difficult to treat.
Despite advances in childhood cancer treatment, progress against DIPG has been painfully slow. Rare paediatric brain cancers have historically received limited research investment, while their small patient populations provide little commercial incentive for large-scale drug development.
Yet research is advancing. New approaches in molecular diagnostics, precision medicine, targeted therapies and clinical trials are creating possibilities that did not exist before.
Our role is to help bring more of that progress within reach to families in Singapore and the region.

What We Do
KKH International Neuro-oncology Development (KIND) Programme - a collaboration between KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and DIPG Alliance Ltd.
The KIND Programme is a collaborative initiative between KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and DIPG Alliance Ltd., established to advance research, clinical trials and treatment options for children with brain and other neuro-oncological tumours.
The Programme grew out of a shared commitment to address the urgent need for better treatments for children affected by aggressive and difficult-to-treat brain tumours, including Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) and other paediatric brain tumours.
While DIPG is an important focus of DIPG Alliance's work, the KIND Programme has a broader mandate: to strengthen paediatric neuro-oncology research and treatment capabilities for children across the spectrum of childhood brain tumours.
What the KIND Programme will support
Funds raised will support the development of a stronger paediatric neuro-oncology programme at KKH, including:
Global clinical trial networks, enabling children in Singapore to participate in leading global studies;
International research collaboration for childhood brain tumours, including rare and aggressive tumours such as DIPG;
Precision medicine, enhancing diagnostics and translational science in paediatric neuro-oncology.
Development and evaluation of innovative therapies and treatment approaches, to bring promising new treatments to children in Singapore and the region;
The long-term goal is to create a sustainable platform for research and clinical trials, enabling KKH to participate in leading international studies and to bring promising new treatments closer to children and families in Singapore and the region.
